While sightseeing on a trip to Chicago to see the Cubs play last July, I unintentionally stumbled upon the Tall Ships festival at the Navy Pier. I managed take some photographs before heading to the airport to catch a flight back home.
Pride of Baltimore II is a 1812-era reproduction. It’s mission is to promote Maryland’s importance to the U.S. and maritime history; including the War of 1812 and the penning of “The Star Spangled Banner” during the 1814 Battle of Baltimore at Fort McHenry.
U.S. Brig Niagara is one of the tallest and most historically accurate tall ships in the U.S. This ship was built-in 1988 as a reconstruction of a War of 1812 warship. It’s mission is to promote the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Erie Region, and preserve the skills of square-rig seafaring.

El Galeón Andalusía Through the 16th to 18th centuries, galeons took the lead role in trade and cultural routes named the Indies fleets. This 17th century Spanish galeons replica was designed by Ignacio Fernández Vial and launched in November 2009. Since it’s launch, El Galeón Andalucía has sailed more than 35,000 miles covering four continents.
