Sometimes life can feel like a rat race but if you’re like me then when life does give you a chance to catch your breath you don’t know what to do other than to fill the void with something. Every Monday for the past couple of months I leave the house at 7am and don’t get home until after 10 pm. I’m not complaining because I’d rather be busy. I enjoy what I do and 99% of the time I’m enthusiastic about the day ahead BUT I do have one pet peeve and that’s having my music interrupted during my commute to work.
So….here goes my Monday….I always know that it’s going to be a wonderful (heavy dose of sarcasm) day at work whenever I receive a phone call to talk business on my drive into work. It’s the thing I dislike most especially on the first day of the week when I have not yet arrived at the office. The reason is I try to find balance between career and personal life and my commute is still my personal time to do things that I enjoy. Once I enter the building then I’m ready for whatever comes my way. So when I receive an incoming call on my drive it immediately kills my music. If you’ve seen Blade Runner 2049 then I’d like to compare this morning’s incident like the scene in the movie when K’s girlfriend freezes up in the rain when he receives an incoming call. That was me this morning making the exact same face as Ryan Gosling.
Monday continued….Mondays are usually hectic and today was no exception. Before I knew it the sun was setting when I finally realized that I was in the office for far too long. There were still things to do but I had to call it quits at some point. I was the only one left in office, the alarm had been set and I would need to use my key to let myself out.
I stopped at home just long enough to say hello to the dogs, change clothes, swap heels for Nikes and pick up some things to keep me entertained as I once again observe the marching band from the bleachers at the football field.
Since I don’t have time to make dinner my routine is to pick up Subway for dinner. It’s the same sandwich every time; turkey on wheat, spinach, tomato, olives, jalapeno and spicy mustard with Baked Lays and Coke Zero.
I finished the busy part of my Monday sitting outside on a perfectly cool autumn night under a cloudless sky eating dinner, reading and putting some thoughts together. I just noticed that somewhere amongst the chaos of today that I lost an earring.
