It’s Friday and I couldn’t be more relieved to be done with one of the most challenging workweeks I’ve had in a very long time. Lunchtime rolled around and I felt like eating some comfort food so I made a trip to Whole Foods because they have a self-serve pizza bar that allows me to go in quickly to make my hot food purchase and get back to work.
I don’t go to Whole Foods often but every time I make a trip there I have noticed that almost immediately upon entering, I’m hit with a very distinct “Whole Foods” smell that is very overpowering to me. I’ve tried to identify what the scent is but everytime I’m dumbfounded so today I decided to Google it and GUESS WHAT?! I’m not the only person who has wondered this. I read through some stuff online and here are some responses that I will borrow in an attempt to try to describe it for you.
- I love me some Whole Foods, but have you noticed when you go in there it has this distinct smell to it? Either that or the pollution is so bad that I am not used to smelling actually non toxic air-who knows.
- Patchouli. All of us old hippies who shop at WF wear it.
- The funky smell of 1,000 cheeses clashing with unknown roasted meats, seafood and pine, ewwww.
I found my pizza and opted for a slice of cheese pizza with red and yellow pepper slices. I wanted to have a soda with my lunch but everything looked unfamiliar and unappealing. I finally found something that looked OK enough to try because it was a root beer. You can’t go wrong with root beer but wait… actually, you can go very wrong. I just tasted it while writing this and I can tell you that this does not taste good. It taste flat and kind of soapy with a medicinal undertone.
I know Whole Foods thrives on selling healthy, natural and organic products and me looking for junk food there is a joke so I’ve come to the conclusion that every once in a while I’m going to break the rules and have some of the real-fake stuff.
Now that Halloween is over Whole Foods has rolled out their Christmas decorations and they are on full display. In case you were wondering about what Christmas gift to get for the person that has everything, Whole Foods has a 2018 calendar filled with poetry by cats titled I Could Pee on This And Other Poems by Cats.
