I read that children aren’t the only ones who can reap the benefits of learning an instrument. Adults can also gain tremendously from playing a musical instrument. Music has been shown to reduce stress, increase productivity, develop creativity and build confidence.
I bought myself a guitar about a month ago because I was determined to learn how to play it. Since then I’ve been devoting a little time nearly each day watching YouTube videos and studying guitar tablature. This evening I decided to do a quick look back at my progress and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. It’s a little embarrassing but nonetheless I’m sharing because I’ve observed that through my mistakes I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t furthermore I discovered that I have slightly improved and that feels good.
Get out there and try something new. Have fun, laugh with yourself, be un-structured and carefree at least for a few moments each day.
Played it til my fingers bled
Was the summer of 69

I feel like you might be joking as I believe that you are younger than that. I appreciate the comment nonetheless. I hope all is well with you and from what I read it sounds like it is. π

I am younger than that. I relate though. I learned to play guitar at 15 and it’s been a major part of my life

Both. Mainly electric lately. I should get out of bed and play

MRI scans on knee now. Working out my physical program for this year. Heard 2 very good female singers last night. The kiwi was excellent. Like Marianne Faithful doing a Velvet underground thang

I’m glad to hear that the knees are on the road to recovery. You have to get them better so you can make your journey down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. You could write a music review about their performance.

Say it ain’t so! How could they cancel?! I am well thank you π. What will you be playing? I’m working on Beautiful War. I had never heard of such a thing until I paid attention to the lyrics of the song. It’s quite pretty and true. Thanks for writing.

Nah, the people I was going with cancelled. Suits me because it was a long travel and I would have had to have stayed out. Expensive for us all too so rather than us all spending too much we can stay put and accrue.
Don’t know Beautiful War. I knew a band called Bellusira which means Beautiful Anger

Good for you for finding the silver lining. Bellusira, I Googled and think I found them on YouTube. Kings Of Leon sings Beautiful War. How’s the knee?

Preferably not. I’m not getting younger. This is my first January away from a footy club doing preseason training in 10 years.
Growing up I would be in rowing camps through January and then there were years in between that would have killed me if I hadn’t been so fit as I left school.

That is true. Knowledge is power. Questions should be asked and we should always think for ourselves and not take for granted what we are told. That’s not to say that I don’t trust because I do maybe too liberally sometimes but know that I’m always quietly watching, observing and reading between the lines.

Thank you and as repulsive as it sounds…emm…I look forward to the callouses:-/? Do you play? If so then I’d like to share that C#m is getting the best of me. Any advice on how to successfully play this chord?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I play bass and guitar, and also do a lame job trying to sing. The C#m is easiest by using a barre chord on the fourth fret.

Thank you for sharing. I also do a lame job at incorporating vocals. You should share your musical talents sometime. There are so many things to focus on at once! The left hand in proper chord positions, the right hand focused on strumming pattern, tempo AND singing in tune? I could not manage to hold and play with a guitar pick on top of that.

I multitrack to get around the coordination/playing thing! lol Here’s a song I recorded a few months back. I’m on guitar, bass, vocals and synths. My friend is doing the guitar work near the end. I hope that you like it!

LikeLiked by 1 person
A cruise? You won’t get to see anything from a boat. No, I’ve never been to Alaska. Seeing the Northern Lights has been on my bucket list so I’m going to Alaska to photograph them. It used to be that I HAD to see the Northern Lights from the Arctic Circle but it’s hard to find an excursion that goes there during the winter.
